If you are an architect in practice or by training, or see yourself as an astute observer of New York’s architectural and planning scene, Oculus wants to hear from you! You may submit projects/topics from anywhere, but architects must be New York-based. Please submit story ideas/projects by the deadlines indicated below to Kristen Richards, Hon. AIA, Hon. Projects with a unique take on history and how to reconcile it with contemporary needs. Focus on daylight and natural ventilation as city becomes more dense; historic preservation as zoning tool; quality vs. scale. Is city preserving too much in historic districts?

AIANY 2016 Board Inaugural

At the AIANY 2016 Board Inaugural, Chapter members and supporters celebrated the achievements of 2015 and looked forward to what’s to come. Interim Executive Director David Burney, FAIA, thanked current board members and volunteers, acknowledging their contributions to the oldest and largest chapter of the AIA in the nation. With a slideshow of 2015 events and programs in the background, Burney also outlined some of the Chapter and Center’s biggest achievements of the year in relation to AIANY’s three-pronged mission of advocacy, design excellence, and public outreach.
