About Town
Through 05.08.15: The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York presents “Sagrada Familia – Gaudi’s Unfinished Masterpiece: Geometry, Construction and Site,” a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of Antoni Gaudi’s magnum opus. The exhibition includes several architectural models and casts used in construction, and showcases the 3D computer imaging software used to analyze and draw the cathedral’s precise geometries. The exhibition is a program of Barcelona-New York City Urban Bridge 2014: A Year of Catalan Architecture in New York.
Through 01.11.15: “Sebastião Salgado: Genesis,” a third long-term series on global issues by the world-renowned Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado is now on view at the International Center of Photography. The exhibition draws together more than 200 black-and-white photographs of wildlife, landscapes, seascapes, and indigenous people, bringing public awareness to the pressing issues of the environment and climate change.
Opening 10.03.14: The Storefront for Art and Architecture invites you to “Situation NY,” an installation by Jana Winderen and Marc Fornes that reflects on the contemporary conditions emerging between the digital and the physical world. It collapses sound, light, and form in an object that invites visitors to question the properties of matter and the built environment surrounding us.
