Opening 07.05.14: “Circa 1945: Abstract Art in the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation Collection” at the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation, 526 LaGuardia Place, will feature 40 important and rarely-exhibited works from Chaim Gross’s private collection by artists including Willem de Kooning, Pablo Picasso, Roberto Matta, and Fernand Leger.
Opening 07.05.14: “After Our Bodies Meet: From Resistance to Potentiality” will open at the Leslie+Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art.” Presented as part of the 12th annual All Out Arts Fresh Fruit Festival, the exhibition explores queer feminist artists’ responses to dominant notions about the body, from the 1970s to the present.
Opening 07.06.14: The New York Hall of Science will open “Design Lab,” a new, permanent exhibition consisting of five visually and thematically distinct areas that encourage visitors to be creative while experimenting with structures, circuits, simple materials, and more. Designed and fabricated by SITU Studio, the “lab” will transform the lower level of the Central Pavilion, part of the original facility built for the 1964 World’s Fair.
Through 12.05.14: Public Art Fund presents “Danh Vo: We The People,” a major dual-site exhibition inspired by the Statue of Liberty. “We the People” is a life-size copper replica of the statue in more than 250 individual parts. Public Art Fund’s exhibition features 52 pieces in Brooklyn Bridge Park and Lower Manhattan’s City Hall Park.
