AIA Board Adopts Equity Recommendations

In late December 2016, the AIA National Board of Directors adopted the recommendations of the Equity in Architecture Commission, who identified root causes to the lack of diversity in the profession and offered suggestions on how to address these issues, as well as a timeline for implementation. The commission, which included architects, educators, and diversity experts, was launched in November 2015 with the goal of forging action plans for achieving equitable practices through measurable goals. The Grand Louvre – Phase I by I.M. Pei, FAIA, and his firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, has been selected for the 2017 AIA Twenty-Five Year Award, conferred on a building project that has stood the test of time by embodying architectural excellence for 25 to 35 years.

AIA and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture named Robert A.M. Stern, FAIA, of Robert A.M.
